Err… anyone know where this goes..!!

When putting everything back together after replacing the dizzy, it was in the bag with the bolts from the timing belt cover: but I cant for the life of me remember – or work out where it goes! … It could have got in the bag by mistake of course!

Tho you cant tell very well from the pic, the head is slightly domed (its black as I’ve just sprayed it.) It’s roughly the same size as the two round but flat headed fastener bolts that hold the timing belt cover in place (the ones that are about the size of a 10p piece and use a 6mm allen key). So it must be for something other than to secure the cover! The thread on the end is thicker than the two main bolts with a stubby shaft and a domed head with a 6mm hex socket in the centre, like the other two bolts.

One of those stoopid situation that’s has me stumped! Bit like the old joke of putting everything back together and always managing to have a few screws spare!

    Cheers

yeah it looks like one of the cambelt cover spacer bolts, the IC ones do use a hex socket but don't remember them haivng a thicker shaft

Thanks guys. That’s the odd thing! - it looks very similar but its not one of the two main spacer bolts for the cover. They both have a flat head. The upper one goes through a sleeve on the belt side of the cover, which acts as the spacer, so the shaft is quite thin. On the lower bolt the stud and sheath stay put and there’s just a round head that screws on.

This one is rounded at the end and is quite thick in the middle, with a larger screw thicker thread on the end. I tried it in the spacer bolt hole and it was too big.

I cant see how it can go behind the cover, but it don’t make no sense!!

It's the right hand intercooler bolt , the one that goes upwards where the O-ring join is .

Cheers guys - that does sound very possible! I swapped the intercooler over from a 3b unit to an ABY one with a reducer mod (rather than the O ring) a little while back - which could be why the bolt looked familiar to me (I just couldnt put my finger on what it was! )

Odd thing tho is I didn’t do any work on the intercooler at all for this job, and you can’t get at where this bolt lives without taking off the bumper.

Odder still, I’ve not seen this bolt kicking around until now, so I don’t know how it came to get bagged up the various bolts and bits from the cover!!. I do seem to recall it being there at the time I took the cover off, thinking it was odd there was three bolts when there was only two on the cover….. weird!

Still, feel happier its not something I've missed, so to speak! Just no idea where the bloomin thing came from!

                    cheers
